- Kara Chyung is a high school junior in eastern Pennsylvania. She is a tennis player, a clarinetist, a student council officer, a Scholastic Scrimmage team member, and a vocalist in her school’s ensembles. She loves math, reading, listening to music, Harry Potter, The Big Bang Theory, and koalas, and also enjoys trying and failing at baking, winning arguments in politics, writing, and making origami. Through PBG, she hopes to dispel the stereotypes about feminism and to spread the message that feminism is for all girls. Ultimately, she believes that differences should be celebrated, not disparaged. She’s excited to be a member of the PBG team and help empower girls.
- Bex Dudley was born with a heart shaped birthmark on their head, which they say is a sign that they have too much love to give for it to all fit in their body. Bex’s time is divided between ranting about the state of the world, and loudly (and tunelessly…) singing songs from Wicked around their London flat- oh, and trying to complete their Sociology degree, too. They cannot be identified by their hair colour as it changes too frequently, but, as a part time Lush assistant, is permanently preceded by a waft of nice smells. Bex’s main interests are feminism, LGBTQ+ topics and mental health, but they’ll argue for everything and anything they feel is right.
- Kaylen Forsyth is a 19 year old university student, originally from Maryport, Cumbria, now studying at LJMU for a Creative Writing degree. She is interested in literature and how this medium can be specifically used in order to promote social progression and equality. Feminism has fascinated and inspired her for many years, and her writing mainly focuses on gender issues in relation to social class and status. Such an avid passion for literature also means that her most recent pieces of writing deal with the possibility of putting across themes of social injustice through a fictional setting.
- Evangeline Giannopoulos is a junior at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, though she is originally from New York. She studies Communication and Consumer Psychology. She is enthralled by the power of communication and - with good intentions - its ability to enact meaningful change. She is passionate about social justice and particularly thinks written pieces push their audiences to tackle systems of power, privilege, and oppression.
- Anna Marie is a sick mad white queer femme who loves art, chocolate, books and the colour red. They are a moon and sun capricorn! - Editor: Yas Necati (they/them) I’ve been working with Powered By Girl since I was 15 years old, and still clinging on! PBG changed my life for the better - offered support, an opportunity to rant about the things I cared about and most importantly, community. I hope it continues to do that for generations! I’m a journalist by trade, working for the Independent, and an activist by night. I worked on the No More Page 3 campaign, launched a successful petition for better Sex and relationships Education in the UK and nowadays I campaign primarily on issues of sexual violence. I also really like cats.
- My name is Tope Onanuga and I am currently a student and a disability rights activist. As a disability activist, I will continue to express my views and opinions in order to empower and advocate for people who have a disability like myself, as my ultimate goal is to better our chances in life by promoting disability awareness through campaigning. I also hope by becoming a writer for Powered By Girl and SPARK I will be able to keep on learning about social issues, such as housing, in society and the best way to tackle them. In my spare time I enjoy helping charities and catching up on TV shows.

- Sophia Simon-Bashall (they/them) is no longer a teenager, but certainly nowhere near an adult. They are a mental health advocate, fan of body positive activism, and a proud fangirl. They are usually reading a book, listening to music, at a gig, or writing about any of the former things. They are particularly passionate about rock music in relation to feminism and sexism, and being a One Direction fan - which apparently makes for a bizarre combination of loves, but they’re not particularly bothered about that.

- My name is Isla Whateley. I’m 21 and studying Social Anthropology at university in my final year. I’m interested in politics, LGBT+ issues and disability rights and am keen to go into the third sector when I graduate to try and make a tangible change. Particularly I am fascinated by Northern Irish politics and the way that impacts on LGBT+ rights there, after doing my university dissertation on this topic and volunteering with Belfast Pride over the summer of 2017. In my spare time I enjoy watching TV shows such as RuPaul’s Drag Race and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and critically evaluating them and their representation of LGBT+ issues afterwards in my head.
